Remote Job Listings Continue to Increase as More Companies Offer Positions
There was a 22 percent increase in the number of remote job listings from the last half of 2021 to the first half of 2022, according to the job search site, FlexJobs.
Remote work was popular in fields like IT and customer support for years, but now various types of companies are using the model.
FlexJobs did a survey on the fastest growing remote work industries.
Event planning, travel and hospitality and nonprofit work were the top three industries on the list.
The Corporate Vice President of LandrumHR, Jim Howe, says (WATCH) if you’re based in the office and want to start remote work, it’s best to find a hybrid position or a work-from-home side hustle first.
He says freelance platforms are growing in popularity.
“Fivver and Upwork are two that are really prominent today where if you’re looking to supplement what you’re doing or if you’re looking to just dip your toe in the water around remote work. You can take on project work through some of these sites,” Howe said.
Howe recommends applying for a job directly through a company’s website instead of an online job board to increase your chances of getting noticed by employers.
He says Navy Federal, Baptist Healthcare and Ascend Performance Materials are the three biggest businesses in the Pensacola area that are currently hiring remote workers.
