Sought-after skills set to take 2021 by storm

As you get ready to conquer the job market over the next year, brush up on  the most in-demand job skills of 2021. In our last blog, we talked about some of the most in-demand jobs for the coming year. Here are some of the most in-demand skills for the changing job market.

  1. Continuous learning. The days of getting a job and simply punching in and punching out are over. If you want to get ahead you need to embrace continuous learning. Check out online class platforms like Udemy or LinkedIn Learning to see what they have to offer in your professional field.
  2. Decision-making. The ability to make good decisions and commit to them is a highly sought-after skill in any industry. Good decision-making requires you to be able to analyze a situation and predict the outcomes of possible actions. Decision-making shows confidence as well as good judgment, which are both incredibly useful regardless of the industry you work in or the position you hold.
  3. Multitasking. Many jobs require employees to multitask and manage multiple responsibilities at once. Multitasking  shows the ability to focus on one task without neglecting your other duties. This skill supports your ability to take on new projects and help others when they are struggling with their workload.
  4. Project management. Understanding the full scope of your projects and being able to manage them from concept to completion will be a critical skill in 2021. Try to make yourself proficient with at least one or two project management systems. Do a little research to see which ones are most popular in your industry. A company that uses Asana, Wrike, Jira, or another system will love seeing that on your resume.
  5. Creative problem-solving. Having a creative approach to problems is a skill that can make you an essential part of almost any workplace. Both technical careers and more service-oriented jobs need people who can creatively solve problems in order to overcome obstacles in the workplace.
